Profile
Prof. R. Balasubramanian has done his M.Tech. from IIT, Madras and PGDBA from IIM, Ahmedabad. He has over thirty years of Industrial and Business experience spanning the functional areas of Product Design & Engineering, Corporate Planning & Projects, Materials Management, Marketing and International Trade. He was the Chairman of the Experts Committee on Customs & Excise and Imports & Exports of the Madras Chamber of Commerce for a period of four years and also a member of the Advisory Committee of Federation of Indian Exporters Organization (S.R) and Export Credit & Guarantee Corporation.
His corporate experience includes senior managerial positions in leading Indian companies such as Bharat Electronics Limited, Crompton Greaves Limited, KELTRON, Automobile Products of India and W.S.Industries (India) Ltd.
Since 2002, he is a Professor and Head of MBA Program in SSN School of Management & Computer Applications. His areas of interest are: International Business Management, Business Strategy, Services Marketing, and Sales & Distribution Management and has handled courses in these areas.
He is a Chartered Electrical Engineer (C. Eng – UK) and a Member of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, London.- MIEE (Lond)
Special Project/Assignments
o Established Input/ Output and Wastage norms for electro porcelains which formed the basis for extension of all export benefits to the electro porcelain industry in the energy sector
o Introduced computerized on line stock system in the early eighties in W S Industries India Ltd.
o Made significant contribution in restructuring and revamping Toshiba Anand Lamps which was acquired by Crompton Greaves in late seventies
o Designed, developed and engineered high power UHF Ground to Air Communication Equipment for Indian Air force which was taken up for production in Bharat Electronics Ltd. Bangalore
